Changing Role of Strategy and Human Resource Management to Support Organizational Changes in the 21st Century

Scope and purposes

The role of human resources has significantly increased which is considered as the main carrier of knowledge and skills. As a result, the management’s targets qualitatively expanded to managing employees and their knowledge. In this regard, there was a need to form a new approach to human resources management that meets the requirements of the current economic paradigm and create conditions for the effective functioning of organizations. At all levels, organizations and companies are tendered to administer a universal manpower to gain sustainable expansion and growth. However, the modern development of society is characterized by growing tensions, changing skills requirements, economic and workforce diversification, determining the formulation and solution of the changed role of HRM within social environment of the organization as one of the most important and urgent today. Changes in the conditions of professional activity in the twenty-first century lead to the understanding of re-thinking approaches and forms relating to the successful and efficient collaboration in the social environment.

This special issue is aimed at looking at how strategic HRM impacts on managerial decisions to support organization changes in the era digital economy. Original research papers in strategic HRM issues are especially welcome.


Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Globalization and its implications on HRM
• Work-force diversity and requirement of integrated workforce management system
• Role of millennials and youth employees involvement
• Changing skills requirement and the role of life learn learning
• Work life balance and health
• Re-engineering work processes for improved productivity
• Technology

Scope and purposes

The aim of this special issue is to develop and share knowledge and experience in human resource management to pave new ways for human capital improvement in digital era. Hence, in this special issue, the selected papers will contribute to a growing body of knowledge on modern human resource management based on IT technologies. It would provide useful insights for managers, key decision makers in public and private sector organizations, experts, and academicians on ways to approach public, private and strategy-driven organizations.
