International Journal of Genetic Engineering
Suicide Cancer Gene Therapy

Submission deadline: 30 June 2013

Scope and purposes

Suicide gene therapy is anticancer therapy that targets tumors with toxic genes or genes encoding enzymes that produce toxic compounds, in both cell culture and animal models. Development and combination of different suicide systems will help to overcome the resistance of the cells against drugs. The development of cancer-specific gene delivery systems will reduce the toxicity and improve the effect of cancer treatment.

Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Mechanisms inducing cancer cells deaths used in suicide gene therapy
• Suicide genes for cancer therapy
• Methods of suicide gene transfection
• Construction of cancer-specific gene delivery systems
• Treatment of cell culture and animals with vectors
• Selectivity, therapeutic efficacy and precautions in suicide cancer gene therapy.
