Advances in Superalloys
Submission deadline: 08/15/2019
Scope and purposes
Superalloys are a group of cobalt, nickel and nickel-iron alloys used in gas turbines and aerospace engines. All these superalloys have excellent mechanical properties at high-temperature environments and retain their stiffness, creep properties, and toughness compared to other aerospace applications. These meals also have excellent corrosion resistance and against oxidation when used in aerospace engines under high temperature. Superalloys are widely using in engine components such as turbine blades, combustion chamber, discs and afterburners in severe high-temperature environments near the limits of their yield strength. Therefore, it is essential to know about superalloys and their developments. There are a lot of scientific works have been available on these materials. There are still many demands for high-temperature materials to empower further technologies, and therefore, the scientific interest for superalloys remains. Hence, this special issue aims at advanced techniques for processing and development, welding and joining processes, metallurgical properties, corrosion, and heat treatment methods of superalloys.
Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Superalloys • Single crystals of superalloys and modeling • Superalloys: microstructure, properties, and chemistry • Welding and joining of superalloys • Oxidation and heat treatment of superalloys • High-temperature applications of superalloys • Additive Manufacturing of superalloys • Superalloys surface treatment • Coatings • Corrosion control and prevention • Fracture mechanics of superalloys
