Special Issue - Call for Papers
Geosciences
Remote Sensing in Coastal and Marine Applications

Submission deadline: 06/30/2015

Scope and purposes

Questions about advances in scientific research where the shallow coastal and marine applications have been addressed with the use of pan and multispectral satellite images of the Earth using mapping and vegetation cover, supporting plans and urban planning of coastal municipalities. Topics such as erosion and sea progradation, protection, conservation and preservation of coastal environments are increasing. Products generated from the average of sensor systems and high resolution have contributed effectively to municipal master plans, guiding the use of land in the sort perspective of geographical space. The development of techniques and methods of analysis in remote sensing for this purpose has become more strengthened public actions for projects involving issues of sea level variations, changes in climate and numerical modeling for the simulations in three-dimensional mapping.

Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:
• Marine Geodesy
• Land use in coastal zones
• Coastal geodynamics
• Coastal Mapping supported by remote sensing
• Regional development
• Coastal and marine Geology
• Physical Geography in coastal environments
• Mapping Techniques in shallow coastal
• Images Processing Methods in historical coastal zones
• Spatial database in historical images series

Rock Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering

Submission deadline: 30-06-2013

Scope and purposes

For any excavation in rock, the first information required for planning or design, knowledge of the overall ground conditions existing, and the type and nature of the rock encountered in the area.

Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical investigations are an essential and integral part of any civil and mining engineering projects for economic and safe designing. All the major projects where rock excavation is involved require in-situ Geotechnical investigations prior to design. With the increase in size and complexity of rock structures, in-situ Geotechnical investigations ( In-situ stress, In-situ Deformability , In-situ Shear and also In-situ permeability studies), rock mass characterization based on mapping of the geological and structural features occurring in the areas of Dam foundation, Tunnel construction, Cavern construction, Underground and open cast mining, Slope stabilization studies are very much essential. There is also a need to evaluate the stability of the openings and optimize the design through rock mechanics instrumentation. To meet this requirement, International Journal of Rock Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering is to be started to publish various research papers and the latest advancements in the civil and mining industries. The goal of this journal is to keep a record of the state-of-the-art research and to promote study, research and improvement within its various specialties.

Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to:

Any Research topics or case studies related to Underground Construction Project s, Engineering geological investigations in Feasibility Report stage, Detailed Project Report stage, construction stage and post construction stage, in the following sectors

• Power sector (hydro, thermal or nuclear)
• Communication sector (metros, rails, tunnels, roads & bridges)
• Mining sector
• Disaster Management
• Geohazard assessment and mitigation
